The Illinois State Historical Society announces a call for papers
for its 30th annual Illinois History Symposium, which will be held March 7-9,
2010, on the campus of historic Wheaton College in Wheaton, Illinois. The theme
for the 2010 Symposium is “Abolition: The Spark that Ignited the Second American

multi-media programs will be considered, as well as non-traditional
presentations.
Professional and amateur historians as well as graduate students, teachers, and
independent researchers are encouraged to submit one-page proposals along with a
curriculum vitae not later than September 30, 2009. All proposals will be
reviewed by the 2010 Illinois History Symposium Committee; presenters will be
notified of their acceptance by November 15.
Proposals on all aspects of Illinois history will be considered, though
preference will be given to those with specific ties to the symposium theme.
